Boat Seats And Storage
There are two elements to the issue of boat seats and storage - one is how to store items in and around seats,
and the other one is how to decrease the space that seats take up.
On the first point, several boat seats are hollow and allow for the storage of dry goods inside them. His is
most common with the bench seat type, who are quite comfortable (being cushioned both on the seat and on the back)
and usually built in a way to leave a lot of space inside. On fishing boats, these seat storage spaces are often
used to hold live bait.
Another option is to hang storage racks or bags from the backrest, or armrest of a seat, giving the possibility
to organize small items that may be of use for fishing or navigation. Some organizers wrap around the pedestal of
free-standing seats, making good use of otherwise unused space.
Another type of fishing boat seat is really nothing more than a cushion that is mounted on top of an ice chest.
These seats can be places anywhere the angler desires in the boat, and often there are specific locations where
they can be fastened. They are a cost-effective and space-saving, albeit less comfortable, alternative to fishing
seats.
Some fixed seats, both of the bench/lounge and of the free-standing/helm variety, can be folded up when not in
use to allow better passage of people in tight areas. When there are several people on a boat this can increase
everyone's comfort and personals space.
Another type of boat seat is the folding seat, also known as quick flip seat. These types are usually quite easy
to transport, and easy to keep dry as you can fold them up put them inside the boat if the weather is bad - and
they can also be taken home and dried if they become wet. There are a great number of different kinds and styles of
folding seats, of varying expense and comfort.
Yet another type of very useful seat for small boats is the proform type seat. This one is normally made of
molded plastic, has one or more cushioned seats for more suppleness, and is ultra-low when folded flat.
Foldaway boat seats like these, which can be stowed below decks when not in use, are very popular with boat
owners who lack a lot of deck space and/or need to carry a lot of passengers and equipment.
